Last week the maize on a number of Roughfeed Tour plots reached a length of three meters. This maize was already in the panicle last week but has still continued to grow well.
On the plots in Udenhout and Jelsum, the corn reached a length of three meters this week. The corn on these plots is in the panicle and is in full pollination.
The participant from Nieuwerkerk shows in photos that the corn plants on his plot are pollinating, the pollen from the plume is near the cob brushes. These corn plants have also reached almost three meters in length.

Big differences
On the plots that have lagged behind, large differences can be seen in the length of the crop. For example, the maize plants on the headlands in Zeewolde are 20 centimeters longer than the plants in the middle of the field. On the plot in Zuidbroek the differences are even greater, where some plants are long (up to 2,6 meters) and some are very small, such as half a meter in length. The taller plants are also already in bloom. The main cause of these differences is the extremely dry period around the time of sowing and germination.
A completely different picture can be seen on the plot in Doetinchem. In this plot, the maize has grown by an average of 10 centimeters per day in the past week. The plume has also emerged this week and the plant has almost reached a length of three meters. .
