Roughage tour Maize analysis week 40

Rain affects maize analyzes Roughage tour

8 October 2021 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

The wet autumn weather has had an impact on the maize analyzes of the Roughage Tour of week 40. The plants have become engorged with water, which is reflected in the figures.

With 4 plots left to harvest, there are fewer analyzes this week than in previous weeks. The percentage of dry matter in the maize was measured under wet conditions, which explains the drop of 2 to 3 percent this week, according to Jan Roothaert, product manager livestock farming at Limagrain. A nice starch content can be seen in the 4 remaining samples, namely between 350 and 400 grams.
