After having had warm weather last week with up to 30 degrees, rain fell at the beginning of the weekend and today. The crops of the dairy farmers who participate in the Boerenbusines Roughage Tour could really use this rain.
These were warm days for dairy farmers Robert Welhuis from Wapse (Dr.), Silvain Kusters from Guttecoven (Li) and Bert Wissels from Hengelo (GD). Temperatures of over 30 degrees were reached on Thursday 23 June. A day later, heavy precipitation followed for some, as is often the case this year after a warm period. The weather station of AgroExact by Bert Wissels indicated more than 32 degrees, almost 20 degrees warmer than last night.
Final precipitation
On Friday 24 June, precipitation finally fell in the Netherlands. The amount varies per area, varying between more than 3 and more than 20 mm of water. Sander Vijverberg from Strijen (ZH) is currently growing the third cut, indicating that precipitation is welcome. Ultimately 14 mm falls in Strijen. The table below shows the differences between the precipitation per participant.
