Dairy farmers are fed up with the meager millimeters that fell on Thursday 21 July. Especially with the current weather forecast, they cannot avoid irrigating their plots.
After a long period without precipitation, mother nature finally came with some rain showers, which were accompanied by thunderstorms. The dairy farmers of the Roughage tour had hoped for much more rainfall. The east and north of the Netherlands received the most precipitation. In other places it was just a few drops with dark clouds.
At Robert Welhuis in Wapse (Drenthe) and Jan Henk Waterink in Beerzerveld (Overijssel) a total of 22 millimeters fell. The long-expected rain was disappointing in the south, where precipitation was perhaps most needed. Unfortunately, only 4 millimeters fell at dairy farmer Silvain Kusters. Below is an overview of the precipitation at the dairy farmers of the roughage tour.
| Dairy farmers | Location | millimeters |
| Robert Welhouse | Wapse (Dr.) | 22,6 |
| Jan Henk Waterink | Beerzerveld (OV) | 22,4 |
| Jan Dirk Ubbels | Jelsum (FR) | 13,5 |
| Frank Rooker | Archwoud (NH) | 9,8 |
| Bert Swaps | Hengelo (GD) | 9 |
| Joost van Nostrum | Sint-Oedenrode (NB) | 7,8 |
| Roel Assies | Zeewolde (FL) | 7,4 |
| Hans Schoenmakers | Udenhout (NB) | 7 |
| Silvain Kuster | Gutte oven (Li) | 4 |
| Sander Vijverberg | Streaks (ZH) | 3,6 |
The drought is clearly visible on the lawn at dairy farmer Silvain Kusters. Drought is also increasingly occurring at other dairy farmers and the irrigation system has to be used. Temperatures will rise again this weekend and next week.
