By collecting data from satellite images, soil data and variety characteristics, the development of the maize crop can be closely monitored. In the data program Agrility of maize breeder LG, all observations are collected and the grower can be one step ahead of actions in crop development in the maize.
During this maize growing season, the fields of the Roughage Tour participants are tracked in the Agrility platform. This data is also shared on the Roughage Tour page. This is the first year that Agrility is available to maize growers in the Netherlands. Growers who participate will receive a report by email this year, but from 2023, maize growers can log in directly to the platform and follow their maize fields digitally.
Three modules
Agrility contains three modules. Agriculture Vegetation: with up-to-date satellite observations, the roughage tour participants can keep an eye on their maize and can react more quickly in the event of any problems. The platform also accurately reflects the heterogeneity of the plot, so that spots within the plot that remain behind are shown. This can indicate, for example, a disturbing layer, a deviating pH or other soil problems.
Agility Yield: dThis module provides a reliable prediction of the expected yield and of the yield distribution within the plot. This provides valuable insight into soil quality and can help with harvest planning, storage and any purchase or sale of maize.
Agriculture Harvest: chopping maize at the correct dry matter content is important to achieve the maximum nutritional value. With Agrility Harvest, growers can schedule their contractor well in advance. Based on soil data, weather forecasts and the characteristics of the maize variety, this module provides a reliable prediction of the course of the ripening of the plot. The course of the maturation within the plot is also visible.
