Roughage tour Grass harvest

Plenty of crowds in grass on plots Roughage Tour

11 October 2021 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

The last beautiful autumn weekend was used by the participants of the Roughage Tour to harvest the last cut of grass and that resulted in beautiful pictures.

Wim Bos from Zuidbroek in Groningen was already on the starting blocks that morning. In Guttecoven Silvain Kusters started on Saturday afternoon to rake a first part. In the morning there was a bit of wind and the sun broke through so that Kusters soon saw the grass drying and a blanket of water vapor hung over the plots.

Frank Rooker from Aartswoud went through the grass with the tedder on Saturday, although the weather did not cooperate very well. "Really nice to dry, it doesn't want to yet. It remained cloudy and cool here for a long time. Now we have a nice sun and chopping on Sunday."

However, it cooled down quite a bit on Saturday evening. With the lamps and the stove on, they continued to work hard.

On Sundays, work went on until the wee hours of the morning. Where Silvain Kusters announced at 19.30 pm that it would be late, Frank Rooker looked back with satisfaction. "Everything is in here. We put the tarp on it and it starts to rain and hard too. So it went well."
