Mowing the fourth cut of grass despite the drought

11 August 2022 - Jesse Torringa

Although grass growth is only moderate due to the drought, some dairy farmers have chosen to mow this week. As expected, these are not special cuts due to the drought.

Dairy farmer Sander Vijverberg already had the fourth cut of grass mowed early on Thursday morning in Strijen (South Holland). His entire lawn area of 45 hectares has been mowed. As expected, it was not a topper, but it was not disappointing despite the dry conditions, explained Vijverberg. He is still on track to make six cuts this season. Of course it has to rain first.

Also at Jandirk Ubbels in Jelsum (Friesland) they mowed this week. Last Tuesday, August 9, his fourth grass cut of the season was also brought in.
