In the run-up to the Sima show in Paris, which starts on Sunday 26 February, GPS specialist Topcon is introducing a number of novelties. This also includes the successor to the X30 GPS terminal. The biggest news is that the screen 'talks' to smartphones and tablets to get help or distance from your crop advisor.
The X30 terminal is Topcon's flagship GPS in the X-series. It now gets a successor, the X35. The X30 will also remain available as usual. It will be presented for the first time at the Sima. The hardware has remained the same. A 12,1 inch touchscreen running on Topcon's proprietary Horizon software. It is ISObus compatible with a Task Controller module as standard and variable rate control for up to eight products simultaneously. Multiple cameras can be connected and the terminal switches up to 200 sections.
Remote help
The biggest news is in the Horizon Xtend feature. This allows you to operate applications on the terminal with your smartphone or tablet. With the Remote Assistance Tool, the dealer can remotely view, diagnose and repair it immediately. It is also possible to let your cultivation advisor watch remotely. For example, he can configure the terminal with his smartphone.
Data transfer
In addition to operating via your phone or tablet, there is wireless data transfer. This is done via Topcon's own cloud. Data generated by the GPS system or sensors can thus be read and processed by the computer. Of course, the company also has its own software for this.
Artemis
Other Topcon innovations at the Sima include the Artemis system for variable seed delivery and four granulate fertilizers on pneumatic seed drills. Especially in Europe, many seed drill manufacturers use Artemis electronics. Topcon can also build it up later. The delivery is controlled by an electric motor, which receives its speed from the GPS signal. A stepping wheel is so superfluous. Sensors for detecting clogged seed tubes are an option, as is Isobus control.
Electric steering
Other new Topcon products are less interesting for the Netherlands. There is an electric steering wheel, the AES-35, that can be mounted on open tractors and machines. It is, of course, waterproof. For those who are at the beginning of GPS development, there is a new lightbar. This is mainly intended as an extra help for the driver, so that he knows which direction to steer.
Telematics
Like many other electronics specialists, Topcon also responds to telematics. To this end, it will collaborate with Tierra Telematics. The result is a simple plug that you connect to the Canbus. All data is then registered and forwarded. Think of fuel consumption, working time, time the vehicle was idling and the position where it is driving.
