John Deere wants to be less dependent on agriculture

The American machine manufacturer John Deere has acquired the Wirtgen Group for 4,6 billion euros.

Wirtgen is the German market leader in road construction machinery and produces under the brand names Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleeman, Benninghoven and Ciber.

More focus on road construction activities

In the past year, the group achieved a turnover of approximately 2,6 billion euros. The company has 5 locations and approximately 8.000 employees work there.

Reducing dependence on agribusiness
Deere & Co wants to focus more on its road building business and reduce its dependence on agribusiness. The company expects the takeover completed in the first quarter of 2018.
