The Swedish machine manufacturer Väderstad would like to sell more machines in Ukraine and Russia. For that, it closes an exclusive deal with John Deere. Dealers of this brand are the only ones allowed to add Väderstad to their program.
The 2 Eastern European countries are important markets with great potential for Väderstad. The Swedish family business emphasizes that it has no intentions for a takeover with the American green-yellow giant. It has not been disclosed how many dealerships are involved.
Exclusive rights
As a result of this strategic partnership, John Deere dealers are the only dealers to sell Väderstad's tillage and seed drills. The brand's own organizations in Russia and Ukraine will continue to provide product support. Such plans for Western European countries are, according to the brand, not yet in the pipeline.
deal after deal
Recently John Deere made headlines when it struck a deal with the German Kramer, for the production of telehandlers. The company now has a long list of partnerships. At the beginning of this year, for example, it made a deal with Kespry, an American drone company. This will allow Deere to sell drones in the earthmoving sector in North America.
Overlap in program
Since 2013, John Deere has been selling plows from the French brand Grégoire Besson in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. These are supplied under our own brand name and in green-yellow. Väderstad does not go that far.
John Deere believes a wider range of equipment supplies will bring more customers and revenue to their dealers. There is, however, some overlap in the programs. John Deere also supplies their American seed drills and cultivators in Eastern Europe. They are often larger than the Väderstad machines.
