New tool helps to make better use of Smart Farming

31 August 2017 - Clarisse van der Woude

Abemec has developed a complete software package in collaboration with the German FarmFacts that helps the professional farmer to improve the digitization of the company and to make optimal use of the possibilities of Smart Farming.

Abemec says it is the first in the Netherlands to offer a total solution for Digital Farming, both for the less experienced and for the experienced farmer. The uniqueness of 'AO Abemec Smart Farming' is that it is the only package in the Netherlands that combines field documentation with Smart Farming.

Data for creating and managing task cards

The software focuses on processing data for creating and managing task cards and communicates easily with a smartphone, tablet or on-board computer to take care of the field documentation immediately after work.

Complete list
In addition, it makes planning work easy and the software can be expanded with Talking Fields through satellite images, train path management and weather forecasts. The advantage is, among other things, that the user has a complete overview of the minerals used (including the activity coefficient) and plant protection products (including active substances and safety term) that meet the requirements for food safety certification.

Insight into business and crop processes
Furthermore, the package provides insight into business and crop processes, including costs, and site-specific performance of work through geographic analysis of the field through satellite images, sensor data or manually. abemec has put together several packages to make Digital Farming accessible.

NIR sensor on slurry tank
Other news from Abemec is that it has mounted the first NIR sensor on an existing slurry tank. The sensor continuously measures the composition of the manure, such as nitrogen, phosphate, potassium and ammonia. The dry matter percentage is also measured. Thanks to the NIR sensor, the fertilizer can be applied in the right quantities directly, on a site-specific basis, which ensures optimal use of the fertilizer.

In collaboration with Müller Electronic, a direct link has been made with the Isobus control of the slurry tanker. The sensor itself also works on Isobus, which has the advantage that this technology can run on any brand of GPS system. This makes it possible to work with task cards.
