Harvesting demonstrations uncertain

Potato Europe accessible on Thursday

13 September 2017 - Niels van der Boom

The second exhibition day of PotatoEurope in Emmeloord, on Thursday 14 September, will take place. The organization announced this on Wednesday 13 September. It is far from dry, but the strong wind is no longer a safety hazard.

With an autumn storm approaching, the organization of the international potato fair decided to cancel the first day. The safety of visitors and exhibitors could not be guaranteed. On Thursday 14 September, that danger passed. An extra trading day on Friday, as compensation, is organizationally not possible. However, the opening hours will be extended from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

When it is dry, the harvesting demonstrations can continue

Red demo continues
The rain was not too bad in Emmeloord on Wednesday. For the Thursday edition, less wind is expected, but a big splash of water of 10 to 20 millimeters. During the build-up, the terrain already turned into a huge mud puddle. However, measures are being taken to prevent this as much as possible. The organization hopes that the harvesting demonstrations can take place when it is dry. This is happening with fewer harvesters than was previously intended.

Alternative parking
The parking lot has already been written off. Alternative opportunity around Emmeloord has been made available. Visitors are then taken to the entrance by buses. The alternative parking spaces are located on the Friesepad and De Munt business park on the A6, exit 15.
