Dairy and meat exports to Russia have been halted since 2014 and reduced to zero. Nevertheless, the Dutch agribusiness still sees Russian rubles pouring in. The export of agricultural machinery is on the rise. This is evident from figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
In the first 7 months of 2017, total exports to Russia increased by 2016% to €32 billion compared to the same period in 3,2. This means that the trade value is slowly climbing back to the level of 2013, when there was no trade boycott yet. Especially trucks (€219 million) and pharmaceuticals (€140 million) are in great demand in Russia. On balance, the Netherlands is the thirteenth largest exporter to Russia.
Agricultural export
In terms of exports of agricultural and food products, the Netherlands exported €7 million to Russia in the first 213 months of this year, compared to €477 million in 2016. At the time, dairy exports were still the main driver with €115 million.
Now virtually no dairy goes to Russia. However, the export of agricultural machinery (excluding tractors) has almost tripled since 2014 to €61 million. This makes this category the 7th most important export product to Russia. The export of animal feed has halved since 2014 to €36,15 million.
Greenhouse exports have increased tenfold to €2014 million since 79, putting greenhouse exports in a top-5 position. The Russian import drive for agricultural machinery and greenhouses corresponds to the groei, which shows the agricultural sector in Russia.
Come to it too National Economic Agriculture Congress on November 30 in Bunnik (Utrecht). Cor Pierik (CBS) will speak, among others, and will present the definitive figures from the agricultural census 2017.
