Dewulf together with tractor giant Mahindra

Potato specialist Dewulf and tractor manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra have signed an agreement to enter the Indian market together. Both parties signed the agreement at the Agritechnica. For the time being, this only applies to the production and sale of planters.

In its own words, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is the largest tractor manufacturer in the world; at least when it comes to numbers. In 2010 it built 150.000 tractors. The company has a turnover of $19 billion and is based in Mumbai, India. The company has 200.000 employees worldwide, spread over 100 countries. The company is active not only in agriculture, but also in commercial vehicles, aviation, steel, industry and real estate.

The partnership includes a license agreement for the production and sale of potato planters in India. So it's actually about Miedema machines, but those brand name is no longer on the machines. The Dutch name is still on the storage equipment. Dewulf no longer uses it as a commercial brand name.

Second largest market
India is the second largest potato producer in the world after China; with an area of ​​2 million hectares. The production level is around 40 million tons. A market with enormous potential for the Belgian Dewulf, which believes that there will be more demand for improving cultivation and the use of better machines.

M&M and Dewulf are currently jointly developing a planting machine for the local market. René Boeijenga, CEO of Dewulf, hopes to transform and conquer the Indian market together with M&M.
