Optimize cultivation

Arable farmer shows interest in drones

22 March 2018 - Kimberly Bakker - 1 reaction

13,4% of arable farmers in the Netherlands have indicated that they are (very) interested in using drones in order to optimize their cultivation. This is apparent from AgriDirect's Arable Farm Scanner.

275 arable farmers were questioned during the study. Of these, 12,3% indicate that they are interested in drones to optimize cultivation. This means that almost 1 in 7 arable farmers shows an interest in the use of drones. In addition, 1,1% indicate that they are very interested in the use of drones.

The results are quite different when looking at company size. The companies with more than 100 hectares of land are most interested in the use of drones (25,9%). The companies that have between 10 and 20 hectares of land are the least interested (9,5%).

There is of course a lot of interest in supplying all this to farmers, but at 4,5 cents for the potatoes you have to keep the cost price low and not spend too much money on companies that all want to get a piece of the cake.
