Amazon Amatron 4 feels like a tablet

28 May 2018 - Niels van der Boom

Machine manufacturer Amazone has launched a new Isobus terminal at Amatechnica: the AmaTron 4. According to the manufacturer, it was built from the ground up. The screen gives you an iPad feeling and you have to be able to swipe between the screens at lightning speed.

The AmaTron 4 has an 8-inch color touchscreen and 12 keys for quickly accessing and operating functions. There are 3 hot keys to switch between the 3 main menus. Amazone developed the Amatron 4 'in-house' and gave the operation a tablet feel.

Touch screen and keys
Since it works like a tablet, you can swipe the screen to switch between menus. You can also switch between implements, GPS and the main menu via 3 keys above the screen. In addition to new hardware, the software has also been overhauled. This provides more user-friendliness, according to the manufacturer. This includes importing and exporting data.

To display as much data as possible, the screen divides itself in two. This is what Amazon calls MiniView. You can hide it yourself, or swipe it, to get it in full view. A sensor in the screen edge detects hand movements. The options then light up; just like you are used to on your phone, the brightness of the screen is adjusted according to the amount of sunlight. In the dark, it automatically switches to night mode.

Free electronics
The terminal is supplied as standard with all electronics for controlling the implements. However, they are encrypted behind a license. You can use it for free for up to 50 hours. This concerns the GPS-Switch Basic and Pro section switching, GPS-Maps & Doc documentation and task maps, GPS-Track steering aid and the automatically switching AmaCam camera.

Amazone showed the AmaTron 4 for the first time at the Amatechnica. That is our own machine show that is organized every two years near Osnabrück. The first screens are now in the Netherlands use, in combination with the new UX sprayer. There wrote we talked about before.
