Construction company and tipper specialist Beco takes over dumper brand Mullié from Borssele in Zeeland. The brand is owned by Van den Ende Machinebouw. The takeover also results in a reorganization of the dealer network.
With the takeover of the 75-year-old Mullié brand, the last old Dutch name in the tipper field will disappear after Miedema stopped production in the recent past. Well-known names such as BAV and Spijkstaal have already stopped. Beco can now also be counted among the veterans. The brand has a strong position on the Dutch market.
Production stops
In the past, Mullié was fed by various companies and eventually ended up at Van den Ende in Borssele. However, on Wednesday 20 June it was announced that the construction company will sell the brand name, drawings and parts to Beco. They thus continue to provide service for the brand. However, production stops and the name disappears.
The takeover also results in a reorganization of the dealer network. The Agri-Machines Group, of mechanization companies Vervaet and Stehouwer, becomes a dealer of Beco in the southwest of the Netherlands. The sites in Maasdam and Nieuwe-Tonge had been that way for some time. A few years ago, the company acquired the Mullié dealership for the Zeeland islands. This also causes shifts. Gebr. Westrate, with headquarters in Goes, and Rovem in Terneuzen are no longer dealers for Beco.
Vehicle Requirements
Dany Dieleman, of Vervaet/Agri-Machines, cites the increasingly strict legislation as the reason for the takeover. "The new vehicle requirements required many adjustments for Mullié. However, tipper production is no longer their core business, so Van den Ende no longer wanted to invest in the brand. In close consultation, we have therefore found a takeover partner. Agri-Machines acts as a stock-keeping dealer and is thus an attractive service partner for Beco." The strong price competition is also mentioned as a reason.
Arezzo
In addition to the Mullié brand, Van den Ende also built the same dump trucks under the Areco brand for mechanization companies Van Arendonk and Naaktgeboren in Flevoland. With the takeover, the 3 Van Arendonk branches in Zeewolde, Dronten and Ermelo will become Beco dealers. Naaktgeboren in Tollebeek has to look for another brand. The existing Beco dealer Blok in Espel will be maintained. Mechanization company Tolhoek was a dealer of Beco in Eastern and Southern Flevoland.
Areco is a brand name of Van Arendonk and is therefore not part of the acquisition of Beco. Mechanization company Naaktgeboren is free to sell tipper trucks under this name.
