6R from John Deere is a bit more luxurious

17 July 2018 - Niels van der Boom - 8 comments

For users of John Deere tractors who want the most comprehensive controls, but don't require 280 or 300 horsepower under the hood, the manufacturer comes with a new option. The luxurious CommandPro joystick will also be available in the smaller 6R from this summer.

In mid-July, John Deere will announce that it will be able to equip all 6R models with the CommandPro joystick, including the 4-cylinder models. In the armrest you also get the new CommandCentre 4200 display, which can control all 6 AEF certified Isobus functions.

Looking at competitor
Deere presented At the end of 2016, the all-new 6230R and 6250R, a European contractor tractor that should keep up with comparable models from CNH and Fendt, both on the road and in the country. Especially the operation makes the difference. Here the manufacturer has looked closely at the competitors. Not so strange, because hundreds of users were allowed to give their opinion about the development. The engineers in Mannheim have succeeded in putting the best of all manufacturers in 1 control.

The best of all manufacturers packed into 1 operation

For many years, Deere has used a simplistic little orange stick. The new 6R, and soon the other models, will get a hefty Isobus joystick. This makes it possible to operate both the tractor and the machine. Up to 11 buttons can be freely programmed and the accelerator pedal and the accelerator lever can be used interchangeably. There is no need for an external joystick for implements.

New display
With the addition of the new controls, the company is also announcing that all 6R models above 130 horsepower meet the Stage 5 standard. The new joystick is only available in conjunction with the AutoPowr CVT transmission. Both are standard on the Ultimate Edition. The 4200 display measures 8,4 inches. Another option is the larger 4600 terminal.

Other options include Variable Steering Ratio (VRS), for adapting to the number of revolutions, and lighter steering. The 6145R and 6155R have been given a larger hydraulic pump. Thanks to the Stage 5 engine, all tractors above 130 hp meet the emission requirements that apply from January 1, 2019 for tractors above 170 hp.

Only that dirty brown interior color, that makes you sad if you look at it all day

The interior has a perfect color it is a machine that works on the land in the stable which are not the cleanest places and will therefore get dirty faster than a passenger car, just think of a color that is better than you will have to search for a long time

Great color. Better than the bart smit interior of, for example, a fendt.

Color is the smallest problem, the Johnys always mess with fake sensor messages that drive you crazy.

Still nice to always see the inferiority complex of John Deere drivers compared to Fendt.

Geez, how interesting to have a discussion about a tractor cab.

A tractor in which people live, sit and work 1800 hours a year, like a truck, must be a good and spacious workplace where there is room for any extra work. extra clothing and/or footwear and especially a refrigerator and/or space for a decent cool box space for storage space for your administration e.g. work orders CMR and VDM receipts only few brands meet this requirement, Valmet and John Deere have understood this well and have in their new tractors that well for each other and also have the choice of color and keeping it clean well in order.

Give me that old super easy-to-use orange stick. The imitation of Fendt as all those brands do is only making it difficult for yourself... Clumsy to dose and continuously watch your step with that unfortunate vario control. They did that, together with Case/Steyr, much better than all the others...
Furthermore, what buttons on those consoles, it would make you crazy..

hopefully that "simplistic orange stick" for the vario control will remain available for a long time, just like the diff-lock button on the floor. these are things that keep things simple and clear for occasional drivers. You can quickly and easily get this explained to a casual driver who will quickly help you out during busy periods.
