Dewulf stops Smart Grader

19 July 2018 - Niels van der Boom

The electric sorting installation for (seed) potatoes: Smart Grader, was Miedema's showpiece for many years. The company had to have a lot of patience for that. Dewulf, which Miedema now falls under, now sells all Smart Grader activities to the Dutch GeJo Grading from Luttelgeest.

Miedema introduced the Smart Grader in 2012. The installation was mainly aimed at seed potato growers and sorting companies and intended to sort field crops. The optical sorting process was not new, yet the machine paved a new way in the sector. However, the further development took a lot of time. Slowly the project faded into the background; all the way back then Dewulf took over the Frisian manufacturer in November 2014.

Planing machine package
Jos Broeders of GeJo Grading Service has been involved with the machine since the start of the project. This company takes over all activities around the machine over van Dewulf, who scrapes the package. Earlier it already left the well-known dump trucks fall† GeJo focuses entirely on optical sorting machines in trees, flowers and plant cultivation.

Dewulf will continue to produce the machine in Winsum for GeJo, who will further develop and market it themselves. GeJo is also taking over the service of existing Smart Graders. This is provided from our own home.
