This is new on the Potato Demo Day

15 August 2018 - Niels van der Boom

The Potato Demo Day (August 22 in Westmaas) kicks off a series of events. Domestic and foreign manufacturers present their machines there. They often come into action on the demo field or in the shed.

The potato demonstration season starts with the Potato Demo Day. The Weuthen Kartoffeltag in Schwalmtal, next to Roermond, is next on the list (30 August). Potato Europe will also take place in Germany this year, near Hanover in Bockenrode (September 12 and 13). And on November 25 you can literally have a drink in Kortrijk during the Interpom.

PPO WUR is bringing the Holland Process Pavilion, introduced last year, to the exhibition grounds this year. Visitors are no longer transported by bus to a nearby company. Various storage lines can also be seen on the site. There is a special program for young farmers. Sign up is required.

Overcharged in the field
A number of new machines can be seen both at the transfer and at the harvesters. For example, Grimme will demonstrate their CleanLoader, introduced in 2016, for the first time on the demo day. A transfer station with a receiving hopper, roller cleaner and discharge belt. Dewulf shows a similar combination: the Field Loader 240. It will be officially presented on the demo day.

The basis consists of a (Miedema) MH receiving hopper with roller cleaner. The potatoes are loaded onto the trucks via a 4-part elevator and a generator drives the whole thing. The machine has (according to the manufacturer) a maximum capacity of 150 tons per hour.

Surprise from Roeselare
In terms of harvesters, it is still a surprise. If you want to see the Ventor 4150 or trailed Evo 290 with AirSep air cleaning technology from Grimme, you should come to Potato Europe. There is a chance that the Varitron 470 Platinum is there. There is also a good chance that Dewulf will show the new Torro bunker harvester there. The big news has to come from AVR. The company is showing a new harvester, but is keeping all details under wraps until August 22. Rumor has it that it will present a 2-row self-propelled bunker harvester.

There is also a chance that the harvesting demos this year will run smoothly, due to the dry conditions. That was sometimes different in the past, where the machines were really put to the test. In the Process Pavilion you will find machines from VHM, Tolsma-Grisnich, Sarco, Manter and VAM WaterTech.
