What does the woman help with for more than 20 hours?

In the Netherlands we find 51.603 agricultural companies. On 19.163 of those companies, female relatives help out for more than 20 hours a week. But in which congregation are the female relatives most active? That gives a new top 5 Boerenbusiness, compiled by CBS, answer to. 

In the Netherlands, 20.659 women help out on the farm for more than 20 hours a week. From an older top 5 of Boerenbusiness it turned out that the municipality of Berkelland most often helped out on the farm. But is that municipality also at the top of this top 5?

Top of the list
No, this list is headed by the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân (Friesland). There are 701 agricultural companies in that municipality. At 290 of those farms, female family members work on the farm for more than 20 hours a week. In total, this concerns 302 women who help out on the farm for more than 20 hours a week.

In second place comes the municipality of Berkelland (Gelderland). In those municipalities we find 698 agricultural companies and at 272 of those companies a woman helps out for more than 20 hours a week. In this municipality, 291 women are actively involved in farming. 

On the third and lowest step of the podium is the municipality of Hardenberg (Overijssel). There are 640 agricultural companies in that municipality. On 254 of those farms, a female family member helps out for more than 20 hours a week. This concerns a total of 277 women. 

The numbers 4 and 5
In fourth place comes the municipality of Bronckhorst (Gelderland). There are 596 agricultural companies in that municipality. At 239 of those farms, a female family member works on the farm for at least 20 hours a week. In total, 253 women work on agricultural companies in this municipality.

It is striking that this municipality did not come forward in the previous top 5. It can be concluded from this that relatively few women work on the farm, but that on average they do spend more hours on the farm. 

In fifth place in this top 5 is the municipality of Ede (Gelderland). There are 691 agricultural companies in this municipality. Female family members help out at 239 of these companies. In total, 249 women help out on the farm for more than 20 hours a week. 

What stands out?
It is striking that the municipality of Noordoostpolder (Flevoland) has disappeared from the top 5. This municipality was in second place in the previous top 5. This means that many women help on the farm in that municipality, but that they do so for less than 20 hours a week. In this municipality, 'only' 245 women help out for more than 20 hours a week. 

Our previous top 5 showed that the municipality of Doesburg (Gelderland) was at the bottom of the list. This municipality has climbed up a bit in this top 5. This is because in the municipality of Leiderdorp not a single woman helps on the agricultural company for more than 20 hours.

And also in the municipalities of Nijmegen and Veenendaal there is only 1 female colleague. It should be noted, however, that these companies also have relatively few agricultural companies in the municipalities.
