Which municipality has the most dairy goats?
There are 493 farms with dairy goats in the Netherlands. In total that comes down to 347.008 dairy goats. But in which municipality do we find the most dairy goats? That gives a new top 5 of Boerenbusiness, compiled by CBS, answer to.
previously told Cor Pierik (agricultural economist at Statistics Netherlands) that the Netherlands has a record number of goats this year. Not only has the number of goats per farm increased, the number of goat farms has also increased. What was the situation like in 2016?

Who is at the top of the list?
The municipality of Landerd (North Brabant) is well at the top of the list. There are 14.613 dairy goats in that municipality. They are spread over only 4 companies. If the list were based on that, the municipality would be much further down.
In second place comes the municipality of Alphen-Chaam (North Brabant). There are 10.188 dairy goats in this municipality. These are divided over 5 goat farms. That too is far below a number of other municipalities.
The municipality of Ede (Gelderland) comes in third place. In that municipality there are 9.891 dairy goats. However, these are divided over 15 goat farms. This means that the municipality has the most goat farms in the Netherlands.

The municipality of Oss (North Brabant) comes in fourth place. In this municipality there are 8 goat farms, with a total of 8.459 dairy goats. As a result, this municipality has a relatively large number of goat farms, compared to the rest of the Netherlands.

In second place comes the municipality of Hardenberg (10 companies) and that municipality has a total of 5.355 goats. The municipality of Barneveld (Gelderland) would come in third place.
