It can be logically explained that the German pig price rose by 13 cents halfway through week 7. The slaughter figure in that week is the second lowest level of this year. Slaughter figures are also declining in the Netherlands and France. The weights in the Netherlands are perhaps the highest level ever.
Never before so heavy
At 96,26 kilos, the pigs weigh downright heavy. Figures dating back to 2008 show that such a weight has never been given before. It is even likely that the average weight has never been this high before. In 2008, average weights under 90 kilos were the norm rather than the exception.
Germany and France
In Germany, 965.656 pigs were hanging on hooks. In previous years, the slaughters in March and April easily exceeded one million. With an average weight of 97,44 kilos, the weights in Germany do not increase. In France, the slaughter figure has been lagging behind for weeks. Last week, 352.198 pigs were slaughtered. Almost 7 percent less than the same week in 2016.
