Clemens and Robert Tönnies finally bury the hatchet. The cousins have fought multiple lawsuits in more than 5 years. The core of the matter was the power within the meat group, with about 12,5 thousand employees and a turnover of 6,3 billion euros in 2016.
Tönnies announced this in a joint press release on Friday morning, April 21. With the reorganization of Tönnies, all legal disputes have been resolved.
Still no split
Where there was previously talk of a possible split, all activities will remain with the same holding company. Robert (38) and Clemens (60) will have equal say in this. Together with a five-member board of directors, both cousins will lead the company.
Maximilian Tönnies, Clemens' son, also has a role to play. He has been put forward to succeed his father in the future. The controversial sausage factory, Zur Mühlen Gruppe, is being integrated into the group. This company previously gave rise to the dispute, because Robert felt betrayed by the private purchase of Clemens.
