Vion slaughterhouse recently published a video showing the slaughter process from A to Z. According to the Pigs in Need Foundation, this is a good idea, but the slaughterhouse is withholding crucial information. Pigs in Need has filed a complaint against this "deception".
According to Pigs in Need, Vion deliberately withholds information and thereby misleads the viewer. Vion omits the entire slaughter process step-by-step, except for anesthesia with carbon dioxide (CO2). Varkens in Nood states that the information provided by and about VION is advertising in accordance with Article 1 of the NRC (Dutch Advertising Code) and that this advertising is unfair and misleading within the meaning of Articles 7 and 8 of the NRC.
Radio spots
Pigs in Need has also started a petition demanding that Vion also install cameras in the carbon dioxide chambers. The petition has now been signed by 15.000 people. The welfare organization will also start radio commercials at short notice.
This CO2 stunning technology is officially incorporated into Dutch law. This method has also been approved in other EU countries.
