The piglet market did not start the month of June with a low price, but there are no red quotations either. Read below the analysis about the DCA BestPigletPrice, the Vion pig prize and the Internet exchange.
Sales on the European piglet market, within fixed links, are still running reasonably smoothly. This applies to both fattening pig farmers and breeders. There are no delivery delays. There is also no discussion about the installation space being too tight. The German piglet price remained at 63 euros per piglet in the previous week. For this week, the trend report predicts a sideways movement. This is a signal that the German piglet market is largely in balance.
On the free market, there are free couples hanging above the market here and there. This causes some commotion and price commotion locally, but eventually these piglets also find a market. The tight(er) installation space does cause price pressure. However, when the piglet market increased rapidly this spring, the surcharges also increased. There is currently still room to decrease and that is why the basic price (DCA BestPigletPrice) in week 23 remains at 59 euros per piglet.
The direction the piglet market takes in the coming weeks will partly depend on the direction pig prices take. Stable or slightly declining prices can slow down piglet sales.
Vion unchanged
Following the DCA Stock Exchange Price 2.0, Vion slaughterhouse has left the pig price at 1,82 euros. The market is held back at the top by limited demand for meat. Both within Europe and on the world market, sales are slower than a few weeks ago. Vion is also affected by Spanish and French exporters who influence the market with cheaper meat prices. The unfavorable exchange rates also dampen sentiment.
Internet stock market down
The internet exchange cannot maintain a level below 1,90 euros per kilo and has fallen by 2 cents to 4 euros over the last 1,85 trading days. This is a move that corresponds with Vion's comments. The distance with the German pig price is now 4 cents.
The chance that the German pig price can rise on Wednesday is nil. There is no immediate reason for a downward correction. A sideways shift at 1,81 euros is therefore most likely.
