'Pig farmers in the Netherlands unite.' That is the message Jaco Geurts has to pig farmers. Jaco Geurts is agricultural spokesperson for the CDA in the House of Representatives and will speak on Monday evening 12 June Knowledge session pigs and politics in Arnhem.
Geurts calls dairy farming a bad example. 'So it shouldn't be like that. We in The Hague are shocked by the division in dairy farming. That has not done the phosphate and soil-related files any good.'
A sound
He calls on the pig farmers not to make the same mistake and massively de POV (Producers Organization Pig Farming). 'Make sure that the pig farming sector makes one voice heard in politics and towards the citizens. Only then will you come across as strong. Be proactive with each other.'
He refers to the odor file. The NVV has commissioned a study into odor and odor perception. This was carried out by the Flemish research institute ILVO. Geurts subsequently enforced a motion that this research was included in the determination of the odor legislation. 'The odor standards have not been adjusted. Then you achieve something as a sector.'
