Two percent more piglets until October

Until October, the supply of pigs for slaughter will increase by 2% compared to the supply in June 2017. This is expected by Wageningen Economic Research (WUR), based on the Insemination Monitor.  

Since the beginning of 2016, the number of piglets and slaughter pigs has increased considerably. In any case, this increase will continue until this autumn. The researchers base this forecast on the number of inseminations in pigs. 

Supply forecast
The 5 Dutch AI companies provide this data on a monthly basis. The number of inseminations provides a prognosis of the supply of piglets over a period of approximately 6 months. For slaughter pigs, this covers a period of approximately 10 months. The different seasonal patterns are filtered.
