NVV members vote for

One pig sound one step closer

June 27, 2017 - Wouter Baan

The integration of the Dutch Association of Pig Farmers (NVV) within POV Belangenbeprovocation is another step closer. On Monday evening, June 26, the NVV members agreed to work out the options for phasing out the union.

Objective: One pig sound

The intention is that from 2018 the NVV and LTO Pig Farming will merge within POV Belangenbeprovocation. This means that from 2018 the NVV will stop collecting contributions. If the General Members' Meeting of the POV at the end of 2017 approves the definitive merger, POV will take over the contribution collection from the NVV in 2018.

Final decision will follow later
The next GMM of the NVV is planned for December. Then the options for phasing out the NVV will be discussed. An AGM will follow in mid-2018 where a final decision will be taken for this phase-out. According to Ingrid Jansen, NVV chairman, it is important that the NVV only takes follow-up steps when the POV organization is finalised. "Due care takes precedence over speed," says Jansen.
