Step in line growth strategy

Vion strengthens position in Bavaria with acquisition

27 July 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 1 reaction

Vion Food Group expands in Bavaria through the acquisition of
meat specialist Otto Nocker in Germaringen and 6 other meat and fresh markets. That's what makes the meat processor Thursday July 27 announced.

The companies were part of the bankrupt group LUTZ Fleischwaren GmbH. The acquisition of the meat and meat specialist Nocker in Germaringen is in line with the growth strategy announced by Vion in 2016. "For Vion, this acquisition is in line with the pursuit of good market positions with strong regional brands," said Vion CEO Francis Kint.

Deepening the value chain is key

Focus on brand 'Nocker'
The gourmets from the Allgäu, as Nocker calls themselves, fit in perfectly with Vion's strategy, which focuses on deepening the value chain. Bernd Stange, COO of Vion's Beef division, emphasizes that the focus is on strengthening the 'Nocker' brand. He guarantees customers that the business relationship will continue with the high quality standards they are used to.

7 locations
With the acquisition of the 7 locations in Germaringen, Ingolstadt, Traunstein, Günzburg, Kulmbach, Blaichach and Hammelburg, Vion is strengthening its leading position in Bavaria. The company had a turnover of approximately €50 million last year. Bernd Stange: "Vion wants to take over all 163 employees and give them a future perspective."

The acquisition is subject to the approval of the creditors and the
competition authorities.

Why was this company declared bankrupt, that is not mentioned, which I think is very important, that did not just happen. The takeover is presented rather too well for me, Vion does not buy a cabinet with corpses and then Vion is doing so well that they can afford this after the divestment of a well-run Rendac company, we will wait and see how it goes. teach us.
