Pigs in Need wants a professional ban on Straathof

1 August 2017 - Kimberly Bakker - 19 comments

Animal welfare organization Pigs in Need has received several requests to impose a professional ban on Straathof. That is why the organization has now started a petition. The goal is to collect at least 40.000 signatures.

"Pig farmer Straathof is notorious", the Pigs in Nood press release begins. In 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2016, animal protection and the German police found many abuses and violations of the law in several German and Dutch stables of Straathof, according to Varkens in Nood.

Stable brand was the last straw for many

Now the pig farmer through the fire in Erichem, where 24.000 pigs died, is again negative in the news, the measure is full for many.

Trail of Violations
In Germany, Straathof has already been banned from working. Straathof's entrepreneurship leaves a trail of violations of the law. The NVWA, the German police and various animal protectionists visited the pig farmer's stables. There they found: animals without drinking water, overcrowded stables, cages that are too cramped and neglect of sick and injured pigs.

In Germany, a police raid was the last straw: Straathof was banned from profession. In the Netherlands, official reports, heavy fines, warnings and a conditional suspension of 3 months have been demanded against the pig farmer in recent years.

It is incomprehensible that this pig farmer could go his own way. The Netherlands is not such a civilized country!

if you forbid every Dutchman to drive a car because they have had a traffic fine in the past, it will probably be very quiet on the Dutch roads .. Straathof has made mistakes and these have also been rectified.

Watch the video and judge for yourself whether it is allowed to treat animals in this way.

That man should never, ever do anything with animals again. Even 1000x worse than a beast. Awful!

if you hit a piglet well against the wall it will die instantly, if it gets an injection first it will hurt first.
what the hell are citizens anyway

and if you have to wait for a vet it suffers even longer

shocking images were told on TV!! there was a pig with a uterus out, well unfortunately that just happens, also with farmers who have 100 pigs, and also with people!! you just need to know who and what is being filmed

Judging by the above commenters, Marianne has got a few dolls dancing again.

Probably also responding to the I-phone, on the Turkish Riviera where they stay all-inclusive on tax money obtained through benefits and paid by our sector.

Normal farmers should also distance themselves from this figure. mega stables is also a threat to any normal farmer. Furthermore, when normal farmers try to justify beating piglets to death, they are just as big a criminal themselves and have sunk very low.

finds it necessary to say something again. in the big cities, buses are packed with people who don't like to be squeezed together, yet it is. pigs are much more spacious in a truck than these people. SO LOOKS much better. But if in a bend than in that much more spacious place, but crash like that, because they are much too spacious, then it all seems much more animal-friendly ??
people from "outside" should therefore interfere less with our beautiful sector, from which we want to provide the population with safe food in a good way. this street court occasionally commits a "violation", but this is in the same proportion as all smaller entrepreneurs.

It looks like 1 or 2 people often responded with different names.

I can no longer bear the suffering of the animals. Stop with the mega stables. I only want a piece of meat from an animal that has had a good life.!!!!!
Best regards. joke

I hear many citizens say this, but when I ask the butcher how many customers ask about the origin of the meat, it is not much in proportion. I notice that for most consumers the price is more important than the manner of keeping.
john 4 August 2017
every time I hear the call to stop eating meat means that another pig is disappearing into a flat.. if every awake animal and pig is needed now is buying a piece of sustainably produced meat, the switch is much faster.
