Sale compound feed factory

Agrifirm and HaGe reach agreement

2 August 2017 - Kimberly Bakker

Agrifirm and Hauptgenossenschaft Nord AG (HaGe) have reached an agreement regarding the sale of Agrifirm's compound feed factory in Drentwede (Lower Saxony, Germany). For Agrifirm, the sale of the factory is the result of the organization's reconsideration of its animal feed strategy in Germany.

With the sale of the compound feed factory, Agrifirm wants to respond to the changing market conditions and the increased complexity of the German market. "With this step, our reorientation on the German compound feed industry has been completed," says Ronald van de Ven, general manager of Agrifirm Northwest Europe.

HaGe wants to specialize in organic feeds

Factory function
The factory is currently mainly used for the production of pig feeds. After the sale, HaGe will phase out the production of conventional feeds and continue to focus on the production of organic feeds.

The existing current contracts with customers of the factory in Germany are fulfilled and monitored by Agrifirm. Van de Ven: "With the reorientation, Agrifirm will continue to serve the German border region of Weser Ems from its Dutch locations. In addition, Agrifirm will continue to focus on further expanding its market share."

With reservation
Agrifirm's works council and employees have now been informed about the sale. The takeover of the plant is subject to the approval of the competition authorities.
