The number of pig slaughters has increased again in recent years. This is evident from figures from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl).
The number of slaughters increased by 32 animals per week in week 1.000. This brings the number to 284.000 units. That means the number of slaughters is back at the level of 1 month ago.
The reason for the increasing number of slaughters is probably the end of the summer holidays. This summer, the least number of pigs was slaughtered in week 26. Since then, the number has been increasing every week. The number of pigs slaughtered per week from 2016 to week 33 of this year.
