LTO Nederland wants periodic inspections of electrical systems in existing stables. The purpose of this is to reduce the increasing number of barn fires.

LTO Nederland wants to reduce the number of barn fires with the preventive measures. It concerns periodic inspections of electrical systems.

The focus is on the older stables

Especially older stables
The 'Building Decree' contains requirements that must make new stables more fire-safe. The focus is therefore on older stables.

With this initiative, LTO is responding to the recommendations of the evaluation report on barn fires. LTO Nederland wants to include the inspections in the existing quality systems of the livestock sectors.

Recent barn fires
In 2014 29 stables burned down, in 2015 31 and last year even 47, according to figures from the Netherlands Fire Service. A total of 370.000 animals were killed. In the first half of 2017, 18 stables went up in flames.

If we start by explaining that the animals have a short death by suffocation instead of incineration, I think it is much better for the citizen

No problem for me, my insurance would like it. I want it myself, everyone around me wants it.
But not through quality systems, which have proven that it doesn't work well. Moreover, they devise rules there to keep themselves occupied with the comparative Melkert jobs. Simply include in the legislation that an annual or biennial inspection must be carried out.

Most insurers certainly require this electrical inspection for chicken and pig farming, so fortunately nothing new under the sun... I would like to know whether this inspection was also carried out for the barn fires of recent times, because then we can judge whether the barn fires prevents or not!

Indeed, we must and are already being tested for our Fire safety risks via the insurance policies. First research into the origin of these fires. Because in my eyes it is suddenly too much barn fires!
Every mouse, rat and other rodents must live today.
First the stone above water about the origin and causes of these barn fires. In addition, we are not shy about even more rules, which means covering for someone else (read politics) and the sectors again get a financial loss.

There should therefore be an obligation for the government that no pesticides may be banned until there is a proven alternative.

Chance of fire stable is 0.37 per mille. Megastal 0.30. There are 68020 stables in the Netherlands. So 26 fires per year. is 18. So our stables are fireproof. The number of animals in 2008 victims of fire is 200.000. In 2016 201.000. Anyone who still dares to claim that more stables are burning or more animals are victims has not understood it. Our "animal friends" are not concerned with saving animals but with increasing our cost price.Source figures M.Nelisse Member of Parliament Z.Holland risk analyst.

And in dairy barns you rarely hear about fire!
Will the LTO continue to unnecessarily cost and stress farmers again
checks etc

An old free stall barn is quite different from a double-storey pig flat with all the electronics and central extraction.
