Lackluster demand on the meat market and disappointing sales opportunities on the world market are giving European pig prices a blow. No country in Northwestern Europe is keeping it dry.
After the North/West Commission severely suppressed the German pork price, the negative mood on the pork market accelerated. In the ISN price comparator, the Netherlands is the worst off, with a minus of €0,10 to €1,48 per kilo. Germany drops by €0,08 to €1,56 per kilo. The Belgians go back €0,09 and arrive at €1,49 per kilo.
€0,04 will be deducted from the Danish pig price, which amounts to €1,56 per kilo. This is after €0,02 had already been surrendered in the weeks before.
Spain down with it
The Spanish pig price is also taking a hit with a reduction from €0,06 to €1,77 per kilo. It suggests that the Spaniards are also suffering from declining meat sales in China. In the past 6 weeks, €0,14 of the French pig price has evaporated to €1,54 per kilo. In the past week the decrease was €0,04.
For the time being, the price dip seems to mainly affect the export-dependent pig countries. This happened in Italy last week upward mutations to detect.
Since July, the pig market in Northwestern Europe has followed the 2016 trend.
