Declining slaughter figures remain ample

Last week fewer pigs were slaughtered in Germany, France and the Netherlands. Nevertheless, the slaughter figures remain ample and the weights high.

In the Netherlands, 319.000 pigs were slaughtered last week, a decline of 1,85% compared to the previous week. Then there was talk of a provisional slaughter record. Compared to the same week last year and the 5-year average, the slaughter figures are more than 5% higher.

It is striking that the average slaughter weight has been stable for 3 weeks: 96,60 kilos. This is more than 1,5 kilos heavier than last year.

France and Germany
German slaughterhouses have now been slaughtering more than a million for 3 weeks in a row. However, the number of slaughters last week fell by about 10.000 pigs to 1.027.850, which weighed an average of 98,087 kilos. This is less than 1% below the 5-year average and the slaughter figure of the same week last year.

In France, too, with 374.604 slaughters, more than 1% fewer pigs were slaughtered than in the previous week. The average weight in France is 95,89 kilos.
