Danish Crown makes 4 acquisitions in South America

22 December 2017 - Wouter Baan

Danish Crown has bought 4 South American companies that are active in the natural casing trade. The Danish slaughter giant wants to become the largest in the world in this area.

The acquisitions have been made by DAT Schaub, a part of Danish Crown which is already active in the casing trade. These are the companies Insuban and Indexan (Chile), Rricolsa (Colombia) and ESB (Brazil). The management will remain in the hands of the current managements of these companies.

DAT Schaub also has a majority of the shares in the Spanish Agrimares, which is also a major player in the casing trade.

Ambitions
Natural casings are a slaughter product, mainly suitable for the production of meat products. CEO of Danish Crown, Jais Valeur, has announced that the Danish meat concern wants to become the largest supplier of natural casings worldwide.
