Cherkizovo, Russia's largest meat producer, is switching completely to Topigs Norsvin's TN70 sow. This means that all approximately 90.000 sows will be produced with Topigs Norsvin genetics. The economic advantage that this sow line offers is decisive for the choice.
Prior to choosing Topigs Norsvin, Cherkizovo tested multiple strains of genetics. The TN70 sow came out on top in this. Brad Heron, production director of the pig division of Cherkizovo, says that the TN70 sow realizes more profit per kilogram of meat. Topigs Norsvin says that this is the trait Cherkizovo ultimately selects for.
According to Maxim Zudin, director of the Agro Division at Cherkizovo, Topigs Norsvin is the perfect partner. This is because of the presence in Russia, combined with the knowledge and quality that the TN70 sow line offers.
Happy with deal
Martin Bijl, CEO at Topigs Norsvin, is delighted with the deal. According to Bijl, this is proof that Topigs Norsvin's genetics meet the needs of professional pork producers. Topigs Norsvin has done business with Cherkizovo in the past, just not on the scale that is now deployed.
