The number of pig slaughters has also increased in the past 5 years from 3,8 million to 6,4 million, which is an increase of 68%. The production, weighted in tons of carcass (with bones), increased by 70%.
Pork consumption
Pork consumption in Argentina has also risen sharply between 2012 and 2017: from 8,5 kilos per person per year to 14 kilos per person per year, an increase of 64%. Compared to 2016, pork consumption increased by 9%.
The Argentine producer also benefited from these higher figures. Since the price paid to the producer has increased by 22,6%, compared to 2016.
