In the ISN price comparison, the German pig price increases by €0,05 to €1,50 per kilo, while the Dutch pig price levels off at €1,38 per kilo. The German mutation is based on the VEZG listing which increased by €0,05 last week to €1,55 per kilo. Vion Germany did not agree to this, which means that the slaughterhouse has a 'haus price' uses. This move is likely to put a brake on pricing in the coming weeks.

The Internet stock exchange already showed a strong correction on Tuesday, March 6. The quotation fell by €0,06 to €1,51 per kilo, with only a minority of lots (8 out of 17) being included in the market. This suggests that the German pig price (the VEZG quotation) may also be heading for a correction on Wednesday. This quotation now stands at €1,55 per kilo.

Japan imports fractionally less
Japanese pork imports fell by 1,9% to 74.306 tonnes in January, compared to the same month in 2016. Dutch exports fell by 8,5% to 2.000 tonnes. Proportionally, Germany exports considerably less to Japan, with 1.694 tons (-1,2%).

Other countries that stand out are the United States (US), Canada and Spain. These are the 3 largest exporters in Japan respectively. American exports fell by 9,9% to 20.461 tons. Canadian exports, on the other hand, increased by 14,8% to 17.812 tonnes. Spain is the largest European exporter Japan with a volume of 8,966 tons (+7,4%).
