Dutch bacon company comes into Danish hands

June 5, 2018 - Wouter Baan

Tulip Food, the subsidiary of Danish Crown, has acquired the Dutch bacon specialist and processed meats company Zandbergen. It is not known how much money is involved in the acquisition.

Tulip Food is a major supplier of meats and sausage products all over the world. With the acquisition of Zandbergen, the company aims to further strengthen its position in the European market. Kasper Lenbroch, CEO at Tulip Food, is pleased with the acquisition. "Zandbergen has developed positively over the years. We want to continue their impressive organic growth."

Management stays on
The day-to-day management of the Zandbergen family business from Haarlem (North Holland) is in the hands of the brothers Robert and Erik Zandbergen. Like the rest of the management, they will stay on after the takeover. "We look forward to continuing with Tulip Food and foresee many synergy benefits," said Robert Zandbergen.
