The prices of the various by-products are picking up strongly in July. The price of potato steam peels in particular is on the rise.
The price of potato steam peels has been increased by €0,20 per percent dry matter by various suppliers in recent weeks. This is because the product has limited availability. The potato processors are busy switching to medium the new harvest, but yields are disappointing due to the drought. This has consequences for the residual flows.
Significantly fewer potato waste streams?
It looks like the main harvest will be considerably lower this year; This also has (major) consequences for residual flows for the animal feed industry. However, the loss of yield cannot yet be estimated at this stage, because the results of the trial harvesting for the main harvest are not yet known. For the mid-early varieties A number of results are already known.
Prices for residual flows from the bread industry are also rising, as a result of the rising wheat price. Drought also plays a role here. In addition, some wheat starches are also increasing in value.
