Due to the poor growing conditions this summer, the grass and maize crops leave a lot to be desired in some places. That is why dairy farmers buy more by-products such as corngold and brewer's grains.
A product such as spent grain is still in good stock. In combination with the additional demand from dairy farmers, spent grain may become scarcer and therefore more expensive, also because beer factories reduce production in the autumn and winter period.
Poor potato harvest
Due to the poor growing conditions, the potato harvest is heading for considerably lower volumes. That's it it still is, though not sure that potato steam peels are becoming scarce. This also depends on the quality and criteria that the factories will use. Pressed fibers will probably become scarcer.

Is pre-sorting carried out to account for a possible shortage of potato steam peels?
In the meantime, the price of steam peels responds to possible shortages. For example, several providers have increased prices. The residual flows from the bread industry are also moving with the increased wheat price.
Switch to by-products?
In the coming weeks it will become clear to what extent Dutch dairy farmers will switch to by-products. With current knowledge, it is likely that there will be a shortage of some products, which means that price increases are in the offing.
