As easily as the pig price bounced up, it is so difficult and slow for the piglets. However, that changed to a limited extent in week 35. This is now that stable pig prices are back in the picture and there are rumors that the current prices will not last long.
The DCA BestPigletPrice rose last week with a modest €0,50. The other quotes ranged from none to an increase of €1. For example, Vion's quotation remained unchanged last week (€25,50), the Flemish piglet price rose by €0,50 (to €19,50) and Spain showed a plus of €1 (to €21).
As expected
At the beginning of last week, Germany estimated that the change for week 34 would amount to €2. On Monday, August 27, it became clear that the final price for piglets was indeed €37, and would therefore change as expected. Our eastern neighbors assume an unchanged price level for week 35.
Signals continue to come from the trade that the piglets are 'walking on eggshells'. The market looks calm, traders indicate. For example, traders must have piglets with the right genetics in order to be able to speak of 'smooth' trade. However, trade is difficult if there is a mismatch. However, the piglets are sold more expensive on average.
What does DCA BestPigletPrice do?
The small upward movement of the DCA BestPigletPrice has put traders on edge not to postpone the purchase moment for too long. In the case of pigs, this has led, among other things, to an increase in supply, with some pressure on pig prices. That could endanger its stability. For week 35, the DCA sets BestPigletPrice (in accordance with the statement) at a plus of €0,50, bringing the price to €29.
Vion keeps the price stable
Vion's fattening pig quotation remains stable at €35 for week 1,52. According to Vion, the front part is under price pressure (particularly the necks), due to an increasing supply of fattening pigs with higher weights. However, the rest of the components show an unchanged situation, where according to Vion it should be noted that the demand for pork (both within and outside Europe) is not continuing at the moment.
| DCA BestPigletPrice (week 35) | Price range | Number of problems | Average |
| €29,00 (+0,50) | € 28,00 - € 30,50 | 16 | €28,844 |
| Explanation DCA Markets: The market is valued differently by traders. Some people cannot bring back the increase in the DCA BestPigletPrice from last week, while others see the distance with Germany becoming too great and are calling for an increase. This is reflected in the assignments, because the difference between the top and bottom has become larger. The traders who have piglets with the right genetics talk about smooth sales. Conversely, it is sweating. The average declaration has increased by €0,423 this week, bringing the DCA BestPigletPrice for week 35 to €29. |
