Jansen and Douma resign in November

31 August 2018 - Kimberly Bakker

On 31 August, Ingrid Jansen and Eric Douma, respectively the chairman and vice-chairman of the Pig Farming Producers Organization (POV), announced that they would say goodbye to the organization during the General Members' Meeting (GM) in November.

The chairmen of the organization report that, now that there is 1 representative for pig farming, the POV has created a solid foundation. As a result, they feel that they have achieved their goals. Jansen and Douma will say goodbye during the ALV in November.

'Pig farmers under one roof again'
Jansen has achieved its goals: "The pig farmers are again under 1 roof and speak with 1 sound again. If we maintain unity, dare to be critical of ourselves, listen carefully to the outside world and take initiatives, then the sector has a basis for providing answers to social discussions."

Jansen thinks it is time to hand over the baton after 4 years. "I'm sure a good successor will be found, who will continue to work on this." According to the POV, Jansen's presidency has not gone unnoticed. "Not only because the sector was progressive by putting a young woman at the helm, but also because… what has been achievedthe organization writes.

Vice-chairman Douma also says that he has achieved his goals: "We are currently where we wanted to be. The POV is ready for a new start and others can now build on our work. We have chosen to announce our departure now so that there is sufficient time to look for candidates who will take the POV cart into the future."

Management is still surprised.
The other members of the Executive Board are surprised by the decision of Jansen and Douma. "However, we understand their decision and admire what they have achieved together." The confidential committee of the POV will now focus on looking for successors. Those successors will then be announced during the GMM in November.
