Westfleisch is going to slaughter more pigs

16 October 2018 - Wouter Baan - 2 comments

The German slaughterhouse Westfleisch intends to slaughter more pigs. Not far from the border with the Netherlands, 2 slaughter locations are being upgraded.

The intention is to expand the capacity in Oer-Erkenschwick (in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia) from 56.000 to approximately 100.000 pig slaughters per week. The investment costs for this are estimated at tens of millions of euros.

The capacity of the Coesfeld site (also North Rhine-Westphalia) will be expanded to 70.000 slaughterings per week. Steen Sönnichsen, a board member of the slaughterhouse, says in the German media that (in addition to extra slaughter capacity) investments are also being made in flexibility, efficiency and animal welfare.

Yes Jos, but we will have to do that ourselves, that will not happen by itself. But it is possible, the competition rules have been relaxed for producer organizations!. So take your role as POV director Jos!!;;;
