Piglet shortage drives up DCA BestPigletPrice
Piglet quotations are on the rise and that is what the market is looking for, because finding placement space takes hardly any effort.

Describing the situation on the market can be short: "There is a shortage of piglets." There is good demand for piglets domestically, as has been the case for weeks. There is plenty of space available now that the slaughterhouses are at full capacity slaughter.
The rising quotations encourage fattening pig farmers to make haste with the new imposition, although at the same time resistance is expressed (because pig prices remain stable). Vion has also set the price this week at €1,35 per kilo. Despite the shortage, it is not the case that there are no loose couples to be found. These are still offered and, compared to the quotations, are not excessively expensive.
German piglet price further up
Sales outside the Netherlands are even showing improvement, the exporters say. These sounds match the image of the German piglet price (North/West). The quotation increases by €1 to €33,50 per piglet. The trend for this week again points to an increase. There is also good demand for piglets in other European sales markets.
There is nothing to prevent an increase in the short term. The DCA BestPigletPrice increases by €1,50 to €33,50 per piglet. The upward trend on the market is expected to continue for another 1 to 2 weeks, before leveling off around the broken weeks of Christmas and New Year.
