The mood on the piglet market remains positive. Nothing stands in the way of a next increase for the DCA BestPigletPrice.
The rising quotation is a reason for this. For example, the German piglet price (North/West quotation) increased again last week by €1 to €34,50 per piglet, with the trend reporting that the quotation will increase by that order of magnitude again this week.
Tight offer
Many traders talk about smooth sales in Europe, as a result of a tight supply (which seems to be getting tighter by the week). Piglets are also regularly ordered in advance. On balance, the piglet trade can be labeled as a real 'demand market'.
However, Christmas is getting closer, which is likely to hinder the flow. Piglet prices usually level off in the last weeks of the year and this scenario is also likely this year.
BPP up
With 2 full trading weeks left on the calendar, nothing stands in the way of another increase in the DCA BestPigletPrice. The quotation increases by €1,50 to €35 per piglet.
Vion's pig price remains (as expected) at €1,36 per kilo. The slaughterhouse talks about a wide range that fits well with the demand meat market. According to Vion, sales to retail in particular are going well; sales to the meat processing industry show a colored face and are not purely positive.
