AVP reappears in Chinese province

The outbreaks of African swine fever in China are piling up. In the province of Gansu, which is located in the northwest of China, the virus was detected on Sunday 13 January on a small pig farm, while elsewhere in the country 2 large companies were again affected.

The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture reported an outbreak in Gansu province on January 13 on a farm with more than 100 pigs. With the outbreak in Gansu, African swine fever has now spread across 24 Chinese provinces.

Major companies affected 
On Saturday, January 12, two outbreaks were reported in Jiangsu Province, which is located in eastern China. The animal numbers on both farms together amount to 2 pigs. This means that again 68.969 large companies have been affected.

The animal disease was recently detected on a farm with 73.000 pigs† The number of outbreaks has been above 100 since August; approximately 700.000 pigs have now been culled.
