Manure rule Schouten falls into the wrong soil at POV

15 January 2019 - Wouter Baan - 4 comments

The Producers Organization for Pig Farming (POV) is strongly against the fertilizer measures proposed by Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality). It wants to make the use of GPS equipment mandatory from 2021 when applying manure.

Linda Jansen, chairman of the POV, calls the measures 'ill-considered' and 'cost-increasing'. Moreover, Jansen feels surprised by Schouten's sudden announcement. "We are currently working with the ministry and various other parties to improve the fertilizer policy, but she has never shared this plan with us."

Technology not quite there yet
The POV is of the opinion that a hasty introduction of the measures will lead to dramas in practice. This is because the technology envisioned by Schouten is not yet capable of registering which manure has ended up on which plot.

Instead of manure registration, the representative would prefer the minister to make a point by skipping the restrictive regulations regarding manure processing. Together with LTO Nederland, the POV wants to enter into a discussion with the minister.

Think cumula is cheering. A lot of extra work for the contractors. And the extra costs for the livestock again.

this would have been a pass from cummela. Considering the involvement they have had with manure.

@tem exactly if you know that lobbying plays an important role in politics. and see which companies within the agricultural sector benefit from legislation and regulations. In connection with investments that have to be made and consultants that have to be hired to comply with those laws and regulations. I sometimes wonder what that lobby looks like behind the scenes. Although companies are active in the agricultural sector, they usually have conflicting interests than us farmers.

Koentje and Tem, have it through t, is always the Cumela who has also successfully limited the farmer transport through the government, and has also tried to ban the trailing foot injector, it is always the Cumela, bites the hand that gives them feed,........t,is a dubious role they play, that's why I call on everyone to let the manure drive out as much as possible by notwithstanding the Cumela
